Blockticity and XDC Network Cross-Chain Use Case Enables DeFi Trade Finance for Philippine Cacao Exports
Pilot with Seedcore demonstrates how tamper-evident Certificates of Analysis, Certificates of Conformity, invoices, and bills of lading can be authenticated on Blockticity's Layer 1 and validated across the XDC Network—bridging real-world commodity flows with decentralized capital markets.

MIAMI & SINGAPORE — May 7, 2026 — Blockticity, the blockchain and AI platform securing global trade documents, and the XDC Network, the enterprise-grade Layer 1 purpose-built for trade finance, today announced a live cross-chain authentication use case designed to unlock decentralized finance (DeFi) trade lending for Philippine cacao exports.
The pilot, conducted in partnership with Seedcore—a Philippines-based agricultural exporter and supply chain operator—demonstrates how tamper-evident trade documents issued on Blockticity's dedicated Avalanche-powered Layer 1 can be cryptographically validated across the XDC Network, where they become collateral for tokenized invoice financing and other DeFi trade-finance instruments.
A live cross-chain authentication flow
Each shipment in the pilot is accompanied by a bundle of trade-critical documents—Certificates of Analysis (COAs), Certificates of Conformity (COCs), commercial invoices, and bills of lading. Seedcore's exporters submit these documents through Blockticity's platform, where they are hashed, fingerprinted, and minted as verifiable Certificates of Authentication on Blockticity's Layer 1.
The resulting on-chain references are then mirrored to the XDC Network, allowing lenders, liquidity providers, and DeFi protocols operating on XDC to programmatically verify document authenticity, issuer identity, and shipment status before extending credit or purchasing tokenized receivables.
Why cacao, and why now
The Philippine cacao sector is rapidly expanding to meet rising global demand and to comply with evolving regulations such as the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), which require granular, verifiable provenance data for every shipment. Smallholder producers and mid-market exporters have historically struggled to access affordable working capital because their trade documents are difficult for international lenders to trust at scale.
By anchoring every document to a tamper-evident, machine-readable record—and by making that record verifiable on the network where trade-finance capital already lives—Blockticity and XDC are lowering the cost and risk of underwriting these shipments, opening new credit channels for producers and exporters.
Built on standards
The verification flow aligns with ASTM D8558, the international standard guide for verifying Certificates of Authentication used to track products through their supply chain via blockchain technology. Blockticity's CEO Mike Coner serves as Vice Chair of the ASTM F49.06 subcommittee responsible for the standard.
Executive commentary
"Trade finance has always been gated by trust in paper. By authenticating every COA, COC, invoice, and bill of lading on-chain and making that proof portable across networks like XDC, we're giving lenders a clean, programmable signal they can actually underwrite against," said Mike Coner, founder and CEO of Blockticity.
"XDC was built to bring trade finance on-chain. Blockticity brings the document layer that institutional lenders demand. Together, this cross-chain use case shows what real-world DeFi trade finance looks like in production," said a spokesperson for the XDC Network.
What's next
Following the Seedcore pilot, Blockticity and XDC plan to expand the cross-chain authentication framework to additional commodities and corridors, with a near-term focus on coffee, palm oil, and cattle—categories with significant exposure to deforestation-linked regulation and high demand for verifiable provenance.
